We are currently working on Version 5 of the Woods for People accessible
woodland dataset. This work will conclude towards the end of 2008.
How to send in your data if you would like your woodland information
included in this UK-wide access inventory, please send your data as soon as
possible, to ensure inclusion within Version 5:
By email,
data@woodsforpeople.info the email could have attachments of maps in the
format discussed below.
By post, if you would prefer,
please post it to: Sian Atkinson, Woods for People, Woodland Trust, Autumn
Park, Dysart Road, Grantham, Lincolnshire. NG31 6LL.
All returns by the end
of August 2008 to ensure inclusion within version 5.
What format should the data be in? It doesn’t matter what format your
data is in. We are happy to deal with information from photocopied maps
through to digital GIS data. The very least we need is the area and a
central-point grid reference for each wood, but ideally we would like paper
or digital maps showing the wood’s boundaries.
Please remember in Scotland our definition of accessible woodland is
woods having at least; an entrance, a useable path, track or forest road and
access that is welcoming.
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland we are
seeking information on woods that have permissive access. We would also be
pleased to receive information about access infrastructures in these woods,
where you have it.
