Presents a new range of woodworking courses for 2004

Based at The Pentiddy Woodland Project, Attwood Lane, Pensilva

Introduction to green woodworking – get a taste of the skills used by traditional bodgers on the pole-lathe, have a go at cleaving wood and shaping it on the shaving horse to produce a small item to take home.
Sunday April 4th Cost £50

Introduction to bushcraft – have a go at some woodland survival skills such as making nettle string, basic shelter building, how to produce fire by friction and sample wild food cooked on a campfire– lots of fun for all the family!
June or July – one or two day course (date and price to be confirmed) – with guest tutors

Make your own shaving horse – This is the most useful device used in green woodworking. You will learn many of the skills used in green woodworking whilst making this essential bit of kit to take home!
Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th August Cost £85 Materials : £10 per horse

Chairmaking – Fancy having a go at this challenging project? Don’t worry, you will be expertly guided through all the processes involved and you will produce a chair to take home (and yes, you will be able to sit on it!) *Please note that your chair will need a seat such as the one provided on my rush seat course outlined below – participants of this chair course will get a 25% discount
Monday 23rd - Wednesday 25th August Cost £120 Materials : £10 per chair

Saturday 18th September Cost £50

Rush seating – this course will guide you through the process of weaving a traditional rush seat. *Note you must have a chair to put your seat on – if you have an old rushed chair please leave the old rush on and bring it along – If you would like to come along but have no chair please contact me to discuss other options.
Saturday 25th September Cost £50 Materials : English rush @ £18/chair

Make your own pole-lathe – always fancied having a go at woodturning and getting fit too? HC has the answer – take up pole-lathing! This is the traditional bodgers tool and this course will teach you how to build one, and the skills needed to use it.
Sunday 17th October Cost £50 Materials extra – to be confirmed

Tree planting days - throughout winter 2004/5 we will be planting 6 acres of coppice so all volunteers would be most welcome – soup will be provided!
