Institute of Chartered Foresters highlight Ancient Trees.

The ICF editor writes:

‘Forest ecologists have known about the value of ancient trees for decades. However it seems that a more general appreciation of their role and importance has only recently been promoted. In this issue we have articles from many of the organisations interested in the protection and management of this resource. It is thought that in the UK we have a large proportion of Europe’s ancient trees. The significant changes we are seeing in forest management will result in them being positively integrated back into our landscapes.’
