Rare breeds incentives

New payments for grazing with traditional stock in England and Wales.

Several new incentive schemes have been launched recently to encourage owners to graze with more appropriate stock for conservation benefits.
Tyr Gofal, the Welsh whole farm agri-environment scheme, has recently announced a new incentive to encourage the use of rare breeds. Contact your local CCW office for further details
On SSSIs in England, English Nature will pay up to £60 per hectare as part of their Traditional Breeds Incentive, a ‘top up’ payment to help promote the use of animals best suited to graze rougher sorts of pasture.
