Aavakannu – this is an ancient wooded meadow covering an area of
over 1000 hectares. The ancient trees are of many different species,
including oak, aspen and spruce. Most of the site will be Natura 2000.
Kannastiku – this is a wooded pasture, that has been identified as an
area that will be very important in the future. The oaks vary in age from
very young to around 150 years old. The grazing is being paid for by the
local environmental department, which is especially far sighted given that
Estonia does not yet have EU subsidies.

Järni – this is wooded pasture, dominated by oaks, it has a really
good age structure.
Lasila – This is an unmanaged wooded meadow with a mixture of tree
species. The house was used for hay storage.
Mädapea – This is another oak dominated wood pasture, where grazing
has only recently stopped. There is a fantastic age structure of oaks here
with some wonderful examples of self pollards.
