Join us for a day out in Glen Quoich to look at granny Scots Pines and
other magnificent trees. An opportunity for people interested in old trees
in the UK to get together to celebrate a very special Scottish treescape.

At present the proposal is to meet
at the junction of the Linn of Quoich and the Dee, approximately two miles
west of Braemar. Meet 10 for 10.30 am. OS Grid ref Landranger (Map no 43)
117 911. Bring a packed lunch.
In Glen Quoich and all along the River Dee there are areas of old Scots Pine
and some fine examples of exotic conifers. Subject to local knowledge from
Scottish ATF supporters, the intention is to spend time walking up the
Quoich to look at the whole range of living and dead, standing and fallen
Scots Pine and other species of old trees and the decaying wood habitats
associated with them. Some species of mushroom maybe already be appearing.
Ted Green says ‘ I am really looking forward to this event because it’s an
exceptionally beautiful part of Scotland that is unequalled over the rest of
Europe. Hopefully there will be fine views of Beinn a Bhuird and amongst the
many bird species to be seen there maybe a glimpse of a golden eagle or a
merlin’
It is likely that many people will stay on for another excursion on the
morning of Sunday 13 June. Details will be provided at the Saturday event.
Everyone welcome but please book so that we know you will be joining us and
can let you know if the arrangements change at short notice. Click on the
booking form button above. If the form doesn’t work please send in an email
to the ancient tree forum with your contact details via this web site. |
