Gatton Park, Surrey

7th June 2003
Let’s talk trees and bugs and invisible biodiversity’ - a talk on the hoof with Ted Green, Ancient Tree Forum, and Jill Butler, Woodland Trust.

Meet Gatton Hall, Gatton Park, Reigate, Surrey

A walk through this park which was designed by Capability Brown taking in the Chestnut Avenue. The trees are quite tall but have a slim girth for their age (about 100yrs) and form a semi-circular avenue from, and back to, the far side of the lake. There are also some ancient oaks. Returning through the Japanese Garden - there are some old yews and much older chestnuts in that area, also some rather nice plane trees, and then back to the Hall for tea.2pm - 4.30pm.
